We left on Sunday, July 22 at 6 A.M. and we stayed at a church in Laramie, Wyoming. Then on the next morning we left to go to The Ben Delatour Scout Ranch in Red Feathers Lake, Colorado. When we got there we checked in and we had a staff member take us on a tour of most of the camp. Then he took us to our campsite. We stayed in Spence Campsite. The tents there are just like Camp Cedars, but they are narrower and longer than Camp Cedars. Later that night we had an opening campfire. At the campfire we learned lots of new songs. While we were there we saw lots of chipmunks (so cute! J ).

On Tuesday, most of our scouts went to hike up Monster Mountain. Once they were up there they slept there for the night and they were back the next day before breakfast.

On Wednesday, we had another campfire at the amphitheater. Austin Hanke and Dalton Messersmith were MC for the campfire. Also on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday some storms came in. We really got use of our ponchos.

On Thursday night, some of the scouts went to bouldering class. It was a lot of fun. We got to climb around Pancake Mountain. On Friday, there was a closing campfire. Because of the rain the “fire” was inside of the dinning hall. At this campfire the staff handed out participation ribbons and pride awards. We got both ribbons.

We would like to thank the adults that came: Norm Lee, Jim Wayman, Dennis Wolf, and Jerry Graber. We would also like to thank Lisa Berding for sending us cookies- they were yummy!!   We had a funtatic time.

After we left on Saturday from Ben Delatour we meet Mark Versh and other scouts at Eldorado Canyon to go to the 14er. When we got to the Trailhead of Grays Peak to camp, we were at 11,000 feet elevation. That night we had spaghetti for dinner.

We woke-up very early the next morning at around 5 a.m. We started the hike at 6:15 a.m. It toke us around 4-5 hours to go up. While we were on top of the mountain we had lunch. It was 14,270 feet elevation on the top. The view was amazing! It took us about 3-4 hours to go back down. After we got down we took down the tents and went to another church in Denver, Colorado. The church had a ping pong table and giant bing bag chairs!

During these two trips we had to do a lot of first aid on cuts, scrapes, bad falls, and altitude sickness. We would like to congratulate every one who earned merit badges and excelled in other activities that are not available were we live. We had a fun time.
