Camp Cedars 2007
By: Kurt Lee
When the troop arrived at Camp Cedars on June 10th, we checked in at the camp office. We all got black wristbands that said CAMP CEDARS on it and WWW.mac-bsa.org. We did not have to take the swim test because we did it our self before we came. Then we got our troop picture taken. After that we went to our campsite for the week, Doc-R (again). That night we went to the opening campfire. All the staff was introduced and some of them did silly songs and other fun stuff to kick off the week.
On Monday, the classes started. We would have morning flags, then breakfast, then some classes, then lunch, then more classes, then we go back to camp for a little bit and work on homework or do whatever we want, then evening flags and dinner. We would do this every day.
On Wednesday, the fun really kicks in as it rained all day. There was mud all over camp. Everyone was slipping and sliding all over. After the rain stopped, it was time to have the Nanibazu callout. We would like to congratulate the new Black Diamonds- Kurt Lee, James Wayman, and James Muschenheim and the new Braves- Zach Lang and Kyle McGlade.
On Thursday, it was Flag Day and at the flags instead of the state flags we had American Flags from past years as states joined our flag we have today. During the day Zach and Kyle couldn’t talk because of Nanibazu.
On Friday, it was a make up day for classes or you can do whatever you want. It was also family night. Then our families got to go to the closing campfire. The staff put on a skit called “The Pirates of the Platte at Staff Row’s End”. It was very funny.
While at camp many of the boys had the new troop shirts on. They have Baden Powell (A.K.A: Norm Lee). We would like to congratulate the troop for earning the Spirit Stick with Troop 76 and earning Honor Troop.
We owe a big thanks to Tarry Hempel, Suzette Juel , and Jim Wayman for staying all week and helping out our boys. We also need to thank Norm Lee for staying 1 night, Will Mott for staying 1 night, and Bret Schaeffer for staying 2 nights. We owe one more big thanks to all the other parents that came for the day and all the boys that came. We had a fun time!
