Congratulations Jared for your becoming Trailblazer District's
Home Town Hero!

Council Bluffs Home Town Hero Nomination

Nominee:        Jared Juel

With great pride I would like to nominate Jared Juel, an Eagle Scout of Troop 249, for Council Bluffs Home Town Hero.

Jared exemplifies every aspect of what is taught to youth who take the commitment to become a member of the Boy Scouts of America. Jared has excelled to the rank of Eagle the highest rank a Boy Scout can earn. He achieved his Eagle rank on November 21st 2004. Since then, Jared continues to remain active in Scouting and has earned Bronze, Gold and Silver Palms. He’s earned a total of 39 Merit Badges and is working towards more.

Jared is also an active member of Venture Crew 3 and holds the office of Treasurer. The Crew participates in high adventure outings and facilitates the Spring and Fall Camporees for the Trailblazer District. Venture Crew 3 also facilitates the annual First Aid Meet held at Iowa Western Community College each year to help younger scouts learn and apply First Aid skills.

As a Scout, Jared always shows respect to others and willingly mentors the younger Scouts who have a desire to excel as honorably as Jared. He also sets an example for every other Scout by truly living the Scout Oath and Laws.

In June of 2006, Jared attended Pahuk Pride at Little Sioux Scout Ranch. This week long camp provided Jared and several other select Scouts advanced leadership skills. These skills are taught to assist the attending Scouts leadership methods that will benefit them as a Scout as well as throughout their lives.

Not only does Jared set an excellent example within Scouting, he’s involved in many other activities throughout the community;

Community Involvement

Education

Future Goals

Not only is Jared a highly motivate individual as seen above, he spends his spare time reading various journals to expand his knowledge and curiosity. This includes watching the History Channel, Science Channel and reading Popular Science, Popular Mechanics and various other Computer Journals. He also prides himself in keeping abreast of current events within the community, nation and world by reading the newspaper daily as well as watching the news on TV.

In summary, Jared continues to impress everyone who knows him with his motivation, sincere consideration of others, and cheerfulness. In his spare time, Jared can be found tinkering with anything mechanical and just recently fixed his grandmothers CD Player. He also loves to spend time enhancing his My Space web while his cat “Blackie White” naps in his lap. Other favorite activities include laughing along with his favorite cartoons and driving his Dad’s truck.

In closing, Jared is one of the brightest and finest young men I have the privilege to know. Though every one of his fellow Scouters deserves similar recognition, at this time I wish to provide everyone in the community at least a brief glimpse of this fine young man whom I believe possesses the spirit and traits of a true “Home Town Hero”.

Sincerely,

Tarry A Hempel
